Construction group Watkin Jones has taken a new office in Cardiff

Construction group Watkin Jones has taken a new office in Cardiff as the base for its South Wales and South West operations.

The Bangor-based company has agreed a five-year lease on the property at Cardiff Gate International Business Park.

Geraint Morgan Managing Director, Stuart Vicary Construction Director and Kevin Gould Commercial manager will head up the office, which will oversee three developments currently underway in Swansea, Bristol and Bath.

They will also oversee planning applications on two developments in Cardiff City Centre as well as other development sites secured in Bristol and Bath.

Watkin Jones is featured in position 46 on the list of the 100 fastest growing companies in Wales, as revealed in the November edition of Wales Business Insider.

Mark Watkin Jones, Group Managing Director, said: "We have had operations in the region for the last three years and have built up a solid experienced team, headed up by Stuart Vicary and we feel that the time is right to further expand the available opportunities. It is great for a North Wales business going back over 200 years to open up in Cardiff.

"We expect to recruit a number of new positions over the next few months in order to facilitate our planned growth and we are looking for those people who want to be part of an exciting new team and in particular those with experience in high rise building. We are also looking to expand our supply chain in the region with great opportunities and a planned work stream in front of us."

Tony Fletcher, managing director, Cardiff Gate International Business Park said:

“We are delighted to welcome Watkin Jones to the Park.

“The organisation joins the local, national and international businesses already situated here and we wish them a very warm welcome.”
